Tuscaloosa man guilty of sexual exploitation of a child, possessing child porn

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — A Tuscaloosa man has been found guilty of sexually exploiting a child and possessing child pornography.

The verdict was announced Tuesday by U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance White, FBI Special Agent in Charge Richard D. Schwein Jr. and Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Billy Sharp.

Murry Malone Bailey, 63, was found guilty on four counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of possessing child pornography.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, evidence shows Bailey convinced a victim, who was 15 years old at the time, to perform sexually explicit acts for the purpose of making videos.

The evidence provided at trial shows Bailey did such on four occasions.

The victim testified at trial that Bailey compelled her to perform the sexual acts in a specific room. The victim also demonstrated how Bailey mounted a camera to record the sexual acts.

No sentencing date has been set for Bailey, but the maximum sentence for the sexual exploitation of a child is 30 years in prison and $250,000 in fines for each count. The minimum penalty is 15 years in prison.

Additionally, possessing child pornography carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
