MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) — The Auburn Tiger Trek that started back in May, ended in Montgomery Tuesday night.

Fans met head with head coach Gus Malzahn and Aubie at Biscuits Stadium.

Malzahn believes Tiger fans are above any others and he is prepared to give them what they deserve in 2013.

“We got the best fans in college football and I think they showed that during the spring game with 83,000 plus fans. That was a great thing for our coaches and our players and it really gave us a shot in the arm,” said Malzahn.

The quarterback race will start more than likely Friday, when players practice for the first time this season.  Malzahn said the coaching staff will look at each possible candidate and make a decision based on performance.

“We’re just trying to figure out who gives us the best chance to win and once we’re 110% sure, we’ll name a starter and hopefully it will be sooner rather than later, but we’ll be 100% sure before we name one,” said Malzahn.

The Auburn Tigers begin season play against Washington State August 31 in Jordan-Hare stadium.
