BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Since 2006, the first weekend in the month of August been a “Sales Tax Holiday” weekend in the state of Alabama.

The Sales Tax Holiday weekend is when certain items, consisting of types of clothing and school supplies, have no state sales tax on them.

Each year counties must report to the Alabama Department of Revenue on whether or not they plan to participate in the Sales Tax Holiday Weekend.

Sales Tax Holiday Weekend takes place August 2 – 4th.
