New service allows users to swap leftover food

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – A new online service is making the idea of having leftovers a little more interesting.

An online startup called LeftoverSwap allows users to sell uneaten food from their fridge.

The service, which  is available online and via smart phone apps, is relatively easy to use.  All users have to do is agree to grab the food, arrange a meet-up spot and collect the food.

Organizers say the service it started off as a joke but has since grown in popularity.

They say it’s also a great way to cut down on the amount of food the typical American wastes.
