OAK MOUNTAIN, Ala. (WIAT)) – A robot designed, built, and operated by more than a dozen students has earned them national recognition.
The Oak Mountain Middle School team recently presented their design in Orlando, Florida The National Vex Robotics competition.
Competing against other middle and high school students the OMMS was honored to place fourth in the nation.
Eighth grader Garrett Tautkus says he had no idea, it would take so much work and determination to make the robot pick up a bean bag and drop it remotely into a container.
“Building something that can move around… it’s almost like creating a creature or something. I’ve always liked building things… Legos, blocks…Designing things.”
