17-year-old from Trussville drowns in Cahaba River

TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) – UPDATE (2x): According to Chris Moore with the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the victim has been identified as 17-year-old Brock Bowman of Trussville.

UPDATE: According to Lt. Rush with the Trussville Police Department, the victim is a 17-year-old male.

Rush says the victim died in an apparent drowning. The victim was at the river with some friends, and the incident appears to be accidental.

Police say it appears as if the group may have been tubing.

Neighbors heard screaming and called police.

ORIGINAL: According to the Trussville Police Department, a young man drowned in the river Thursday afternoon. The incident happened in the Cahaba River near Carla Avenue.

Police say it happened in a spot on the river with very rocky terrain.

The victim is believed to be in their late teens.
