Church service Sunday after fire at the First Church of the Nazarene in Jasper

UPDATE: There will be a church service at the Jasper First Church of the Nazarene Sunday. The service starts at 10 a.m. in the building next to the church. This is their basketball court.

ORIGINAL: JASPER, Ala. (WIAT) – According to the Jasper Police Department, members of the Jasper Fire Department and the Jasper Police Department are on the scene of a fire at the Jasper First Church of the Nazarene.

Jasper police received the call about the fire around 7 p.m.

When they arrived, the church was fully engulfed in flames.

The church, which is divided into two sections, has been gutted and destroyed in one section of the building.

No injuries have been reported thus far.

The church’s Facebook page posted the following Friday evening:

Everyone please be in prayer for our church body. The main church building was struck by lightening and will be a total loss. We will hold services this Sunday in the Family Life Center. Please pray for Jeremy, Matt, the church board, and our church families as we move forward. God is good. He makes all things new.
