(WIAT) – A massive fire in Jasper destroyed the First Church of the Nazarene Friday.
However, members say it hasn’t dampened their faith or spirit, members are already getting ready for Sunday services despite losing their sanctuary.
Youth Pastor Jeremy Pass says plans are already in the works to build a new church … he’s grateful the damage wasn’t even worse considering the lightning which started the fire apparently hit just a few feet from the gas line.
Among the items salvaged, the church”s original alter which dates back to 19-hundred, and in the main sanctuary, the steinway piano is intact.
Sunday Services will be held in the Family Life Center at 10 am.
