ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WIAT) – Summer break is winding down for most people, and that generally means families are taking their final trips to the beach for the summer.
Anyone headed to Alabama’s Gulf Coast should be wary of stingrays at the beach.
Purple flags warning beachgoers of dangerous marine life have been flying high in Orange Beach.
Officials say there’s been an increased number of stingray sightings in the area.
However, that increased number is not all too unusual.
Most people don’t know the stingrays are even there.
Anyone who happens to get stung by a stingray is advised to notify the nearest lifeguard and seek medical attention immediately.
