TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Alabama linebacker Trey Depriest is out.
The suspension is not expected to be a long. Head coach Nick Saban said he could be back within a week.
So the opener is not in jeopardy yet. He had 59 tackles last year.
“We would only do it in the best interest of the player, said Saban. “In this case, we have a lot of respect for Trey. He’s played very well for us, he made a mistake, he didn’t do the right thing. It wasn’t a very smart thing to do. and you know there has to be consequences sometimes when you don’t do the right things.”
Younger linebackers will now get a chance to step up.
