HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) — Students and teachers are only days away from the start of the new school year, and the Homewood City School district is taking time to revamp security measures.
Educators with the district met at Homewood High School for active shooter training.
The Alert Lockdown Inform Counter Evacuate (ALICE) drill is included in revisions the system has made to its school safety plans.
The district says implementing the new protocol will provide nearly 530 staff members with the most updated school safety procedures.
