NTSB to hold press briefing at 4 p.m. Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — For the fourth straight day the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will hold a briefing on their continuing investigation into Wednesday’s crash.

On that morning, an Airbus A300-600F UPS cargo plane crashed on its approach to the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.

On Thursday, The NTSB was able to locate the black box aboard the plane. They have been working to retrieve any information they can get from the box.

During a briefing on Friday, NTSB board member Robert Sumwalt described audio transmissions from extracted from the cockpit voice recorder that showed the crew heard “sink rate, sink rate” alarms 16 seconds before the crash.
