Early morning house fire leaves one dead in Mountain Brook

MOUNTAIN BROOK, Ala. (WIAT) – UPDATE: According to Chris Moore with the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, says a male victim was pulled from the fire. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

ORIGINAL: Authorities are investigating a fatal fire that broke out at a home in Mountain Brook early Monday morning.

Units were dispatched to the scene at approximately 3:13 Monday morning.

The Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office says the two-story residence was well involved when they arrived.

The roof and upper floor of the building eventually collapsed.

Authorities say the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The name of the victim has not been released at this time.
