Judge revokes probation for Matt Pitt

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – A Shelby County judge has issued a writ of arrest for Matt Pitt, the youth leader who started The Basement in 2004.

The writ of arrest was issued on Monday after a motion was made to revoke Pitt of the probation he was serving from a previous conviction in 2012 for attempting to impersonate a peace officer.

Pitt was recently charged with impersonating a police officer in connection with an incident on June 15.

According to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Randy Christian, Pitt was out of town at the time the charges were formally made, but he was expected to turn himself in when he returned to the area.
