TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — After being arrested on a DUI charge, Alabama defensive back Geno Smith was suspended in the first game against Virginia Tech.
He worked with the walk-ons today, demoted from his usual position.
“Geno Smith will be suspended for the first game,” said head coach Nick Saban.
“He’s got other things to do in-house, but he will be ok to play after that. We’ve never had an issue with Geno. He’s an excellent person. He’s never been in trouble here before. He’s never been in my office for anything. But I think this is something everyone should learn from,” said Saban.
Smith addressed the team today and apologized for letting them down.
