GADSDEN, Ala. (WIAT) — Federal, state and local law enforcement officials swarmed the city of Gadsden where three murders have happened within a week.
Now, investigators have three person of interest in custody.
The three persons of interests were arrested on unrelated outstanding warrants and are not currently described as suspects.
They could either be witnesses or defendants, according to District Attorney Jimmie Harp.
The three arrested are Antwon Lindsay, Kendra Leach and Cedric Young.
All three were taken into custody in Gadsden.
Two were arrested in tactical operations and a third turned himself in to authorities.
“I can say this that I don’t think that any shooting that we’ve had so far has been a random act period. And we’re lucky that there wasn’t any collateral damage,” said Jimmie Harp, the Etowah County District Attorney said. “You know with the number of shots fired things like that we’re lucky that some children weren’t actually in the street getting hurt.”
Harp says the public can feel safe about going to police with any information.
They still want information about the shootings, as well as information about a 2007 Ford 500, gray 4-door with damage to the front right fender. The car has an Alabama tag of ALBB50375.
Authorities stress the incidents were not random and are not gang related.
