JASPER, Ala. (WIAT) – UPDATE: According to Lt. Thomas with the Jasper Police Department, the little girl was 5 years old and was attacked around 7 p.m. by a pit bull on Preston Avenue.
The girl suffered mostly head injuries in the attack. She was airlifted to Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham and is listed in serious by stable condition.
Lt. Thomas says the pit bull is being quarantined. The incident is still under investigation.
ORIGINAL: A little girl was attacked by a dog and airlifted to an area hospital, Jasper Police Department dispatch confirmed.
The exact condition of the girl is unknown at this time.
