2 men accused of killing 10 cows arrested

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – Authorities say two central Alabama men accused of fatally shooting 10 Black Angus cows over a two-day period have been arrested.

Officials from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Agricultural and Rural Crimes Unit say 28-year-old Johnathan Earl Baker of Columbiana and 32-year-old Timothy Lynn Blankenship of Vincent are each facing two counts of killing or disabling livestock.

Authorities say the charges are linked to a July 2012 incident in Wilsonville.

Officials say Blankenship has been released on $20,000 bond and Baker is being held in the Shelby County jail. It’s unclear if the men have attorneys.
