Freeset able to sell over half of inventory returned from UPS plane crash

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Much of the cargo aboard UPS Flight 1354 was destroyed, but for Alabama-based Freeset USA, not all of their cargo was lost.

The non-profit organization had its entire inventory on the flight. The inventory featured handbags and other items made by victims of human trafficking in Calcutta, India.

UPS was able to salvage some of the items and returned them to Freeset.

Three pallets were ultimately burned, but the rest were left sprawled across the crash site for several days.

After drying the bags on clothes lines, Freeset was about to salvage 52 percent of the bags that were on the plane.

Freeset is also supporting the families of the two pilots killed in the crash by selling memorial t-shirts.
