BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Samford University issued a statement Tuesday discussing the health of head coach Pat Sullivan.  He will miss the first season game against Georgia State inside the Georgia Dome.

SAMFORD’S SULLIVAN TO MISS SEASON OPENER

 BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Samford head football coach Pat Sullivan announced Tuesday afternoon that he will miss the team’s season-opening game at Georgia State Friday evening while continuing to recover from back surgery. Below is a statement from Sullivan.

“I will not be able to travel to our game this Friday,” Sullivan said. “I am still recovering from back surgery. I know our staff will do a wonderful job. I look forward to being back soon.”

Friday night’s game at Georgia State is scheduled for a 6 p.m. (CT) start from the Georgia Dome. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3. The contest can also be heard locally on FM-99.5 The Vibe, or worldwide on the internet at www.995thevibe.com.
