SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — An accident involving an overturned log truck happened around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. The accident islocated just before driver’s go over the Coosa River bridge entering Talladega County and Childersburg. All lanes of U.S. Highway 280 east-bound are closed and debris is also partially blocking the west-bound lanes.
Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies and Alabama Department of Public Safety state troopers are on the scene. Drivers in the area are encouraged to be cautious, drive slowly and watch for public safety personnel in the roadway.
