JASPER, Ala. (WIAT) – A longtime Jasper movie theater is closing after thirty years of business.

The Cobb Movies 4 theater closed its doors for the final time on Monday.

According to the company, its lease is expiring and it didn’t make sense financially to renew its contract.

The closing of the theater means many residents in the area will find themselves trekking to Birmingham or Cullman to see a film in the future.

Alabama-based Cobb Theaters have corporate headquarters located in Birmingham, but its only remaining theaters in the state are in Tuscaloosa and Gulf Shores.
