TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Following Tuesday’s Tuscaloosa City Council meeting to canvass the results and provisional ballots of the Aug. 27 municipal election, attorneys for District 4 school board candidate Kelly Horwitz say they will contest the election.

Horwitz, who was the District 4 incumbent, lost the election by an 87 vote margin to Cason Kirby.

Since the election there have been allegations of voter fraud and potential illegal activity involving student voters.

Horwitz will have 5 days to file a lawsuit in circuit court.

School board chair candidate, Denise Hills, has been considering contesting the election for similar reasons.  Hills is not represented by the same attorneys as Horwitz.  She says she is still considering her options at this time.
