BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) announced Wednesday plans to reopen westbound lanes of Interstate 20 in Jefferson County.
ALDOT plans to move forward with reopening the lanes,if weather permits, on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m.
While the lanes were closed, westbound and eastbound lanes were patched, which resulted in a number of closures on the Interstate 20 interchange.
After the patching was completed, lanes were milled for slope correction, resurfaced and restriped.
About 74,000 vehicles travel through the area each day, according to ALDOT.
