BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange has issued a temporary restraining order on SWATS Edge Performance Chips, LLC from selling products that claim to provide substantial health and athletic benefits.
According to a statement released on Thursday, Attorney General Strange says the benefits of the products are unsupported and may present significant dangers to consumers.
SWATS Edge Performance Chips and its principal officers – Mitchell Ross and Christopher Key – have been charged with at least 264 counts of deceptive trade practices act violations, according to a civil complaint filed Thursday.
Attorney General Strange says SWATS’ violations “pose a threat of immediate and irreparable injury.”
In all, approximately $200,000 in cash and vehicles were seized from SWATS Thursday afternoon.
A preliminary injunction has been set for 9 a.m. on Sept. 19.
