Forestdale Man Charged With Murder

FORESTDALE, Ala. (WIAT)- According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, just before 12:30 am Saturday morning, deputies were called to the 200 block of Crabapple Lane in Forestdale to investigate a report of a shots being fired in the area.

Once on the scene deputies learned that a man had been shot and had left in a private car to go to the hospital. UAB Hospital contacted the Sheriff’s Office to report a shooting victim had arrived in the emergency room. The victim, 20 year old Andre Tyreece Davis of Birmingham, was pronounced dead before deputies arrived.

The investigation revealed that Andre Davis was seen talking to the suspect, James Kevin Mixon. The suspect pulled out a handgun and fired several times at Davis. Mixon then fled the scene. Sheriff’s Office detectives reachedout to family members to learn his whereabouts.

At about 1:45 this afternoon 25 year old James Kevin Mixon of Forestdale accompanied by his attorney turned himself in to deputies. He has refused to make any statement or answer questions about the shooting. The motive forthis homicide has not yet been determined.

Mixon is currently in the Jefferson County Jail charged with Murder. Bond is set at $75,000.
