Add another recipe card to your weeknight meal planner with simple gluten-free (or not) grilled pizza.
If I’ve had problems with baking or cooking gluten-free, it stands singularly within the one task of creating a perfect pizza crust. Even though I feel like my recipe rocks, Udi’s GF pizza crusts are perfect for grilling and saving time. And alleviating any stress or self-doubt pizza crust failure might bring.
These pizzas can be grilled on a gas or charcoal grill, or you can toss them in your oven. If you decide to bake them in the oven, make sure you place them directly on the rack or you can do what I do and use a cooling rack and place it on the rack.
This allows the heat to circulate under and over all the pizza and ensure that your center is just a crispy as the edges. Sometimes, when cooked on a pan, the bottom and middle do not get enough heat and air to cook as fast as the outsides. No one wants a soggy pizza.
For the best results, place directly on the grill or on the oven rack.
Gluten-free (or not) Grilled Pizza
- 4 Udi’s pizza crusts or 4 Tortillas or premade personal-sized crusts
- 1 cup marinara
- Sliced mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, other veggies
- Fresh basil
- Cheese: shredded, fresh mozzarella, goat cheese
- Olive oil
Preheat your grill or oven to approximately 400 F.
Get out the ingredients and begin creating your pizzas.
My professional pizza maker places ingredients perfectly onto crusts.
Brush the bottoms and tops of your premade crusts lightly with olive oil.
Gently spoon 2-3 heaping tablespoons of marinara onto each crust. Use your spoon to evenly spread sauce over entire crust, right up to the edge.
Place your sliced veggies and toppings evenly over the crust. Too many toppings, however, may make your pizza cook slower, so choose wisely.
Sprinkle cheese over the top, or place fresh mozzarella or goat cheese in dollups across the top.
Place pizzas directly on grill and close top for five minutes. Open grill to check. If top has begun to brown and melt, cook until crispy and remove.
If placing in oven, place directly onto oven racks and set timer for 10 minutes to check. Cook pizza until crispy and cheese has melted and brown slightly.
Let cool for 5-10 minutes prior to cutting and serving. Chiffonade the basil for a finishing garnish.
