Man found guilty of capital murder in shooting of Anniston officer


ANNISTON, Ala. (WIAT) – UPDATE: According to the Anniston Police Department, Joshua Russell was found guilty of capital murder on Monday.

ORIGINAL: Testimony began Tuesday in the trial of a man accused of killing an Anniston police officer.

Joshua Russell, 26, is charged with capital murder in the shooting death of 27-year-old Justin Sollohub.

The shooting happened during a foot chase in August of 2011.

Because of the amount of publicity surrounding the case, the trial was moved from Calhoun County to Lee County.
