(WIAT) — Investigators from the Attorney General’s office were in Jasper Thursday to oversee the removal of the first batch of gambling machines seized in Walker County over the past year.
One hundred of more than 250 machines seized are being taken to be destroyed.
The county is holding the multiple illegal gambling machines in storage. They’ve collected hundreds of them from raids over the last several years.
District Attorney Bill Adair says illegal gambling is not a victimless crime.
Adair says he wants gambling legislation changed, making it a felony instead of a misdemeanor to run gambling sites. he also wants the right to go after the property and land the machines are found on.
