Cullman County, Ala (WIAT) – A Cullman county farmer is all smiles, after breaking the record for largest pumpkin ever grown in Alabama.
Trent Boyd produced a plump pumpkin that tipped the scales at 903 pounds.
It’s currently on display at the Cullman county fair.
Boyd says it’s much more challenging to grow massive pumpkins in Alabama, compared to northern states, because of how much the plants here are negatively impacted by our high summer heat, humidity, fungus, soil diseases, and insects.
But, it doesn’t stop this gargantuan gourd guru from loving what he does!
