BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – A 28-year-old Birmingham man has been arrested and faces a murder charge in connection with the death of 54-year-old James Belyeu on Sept. 20.
Police arrested and obtained a murder warrant for Robert Buddenhagen on Monday. He’s charged with murder in connection with an incident that took place sometime between September 14, 2013 and Monday, September 16, 2013.
Belyeu was found lying unconscious inside his apartment when officers responded to reports of an assault.
He was transported to UAB Hospital and was placed in the intensive care unit, but he was pronounced dead on Sept. 20.
Officers with the Birmingham Police Department learned Belyeu was suffering from wounds sustained during an assault that stemmed from an argument he had with Buddenhagen.
Buddenhagen is being held on $75,000 bond at Jefferson County Jail.
