BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Birmingham is one of the nation’s most compassionate cities, according to a list produced by Charter for Compassion.
Birmingham ranked fifth on the list.
Washington D.C. was found to be the most compassionate city in the country.
The ranking is based on a city’s percentage of income given to social causes, the amount of volunteering in the city and the number of non-profits in the community.
Atlanta also made the list as the tenth-ranked city.
