BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT) — Week five of the high school football season and only 8 teams left undefeated. One of those teams, the Bessemer City Purple Tigers, quite a feat for a team that had only won 9 games in the past 3 seasons.. So what’s different this year? Well it starts with a new head coach.
“People like to give credit to me, but it’s not just me,” says Martez Edwards. “It’s these guys and the commitment they have for this program and bringing the Tiger pride back.”
The Purple Tigers biggest challenge of the season thus far will come this Friday when they play the Hoover Bucs at home.
Bessemer City lost that game, 38-7, last season.
