BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Political analyst Fred Shepherd says although Republicans are standing strong on their views of Obamacare, they are also watching the opinion polls.
“It will be very interesting, but this is unprecedented in the polls, because you have this really dedicated group of Tea Party folks who are so ideologically opposed to [Obamacare],” Shepherd said. “Based on what happened in the 1990s with the government shutdown, Republicans backed down because they realized they were suffering in the polls.”
Shepherd says the government shutdown impacts the economy the most.
