Skeletal remains identified in Alabama cold case

PRATTVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Police in Autauga County have identified skeletal remains found early last year, giving them a fresh clue in a cold case that dates to early last year.

WAKA-TV reports that the remains were identified after they were sent to a laboratory in north Texas that specializes in such cases.

The remains were identified as 23-year-old Edward Barns of Montgomery. His remains were found by a hunter in the Vida community in January of 2012.

Officials are treating the case as a homicide.
