AUBURN, Ala. (WIAT) – The Auburn Tigers still celebrating their 1st Iron Bowl victory since 2010, but a different kind of emotion for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Players visibly emotional and upset after the game, especially senior wide receiver Kevin Norwood.
“We’re always confident we’ll get a win, but like I said, I mean the chances of that happening in college football is rare. It happened tonight. They got it by luck and whatever,” says Norwood.
“Pretty much everybody’s in shock, especially on the defensive part because we gave up that last touchdown,” says senior linebacker C.J. Mosley.
“I didn’t see that coming at all. I was down there, ten yards from him,” explains senior offensive lineman Anthony Steen, “He cut to my right and the next thing I know, I’m watching him run down the sideline.. Just kept going.”
“It’s almost like a video game, and that’s something you do on Madden or NCAA. It’s just a wild play,” says senior quarterback AJ McCarron.
But players are looking forward. “It was hard to take a loss like that. But that’s life, you win some, you lose some,” says Mosley.
“Like I told the guys – you know, hold your head up high, and be thankful for everything we’ve got,” says McCarron, “We’re a hungry team. It doesn’t matter, you know, one loss. Yeah we hate it, but the world’s not ending right now. We’ll be ready to play.”
Now the chances of a national championship three-peat – not so crystal clear for the Tide. They’ll find out their bowl game destination in one week.
