BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Two days have passed since the explosion that rocked a Birmingham community, and there still no cause officially determined. But the people who call Marks Village home believe they do.
Residents claim, for as long as four years, they’ve complained about the smell of natural gas in the area.
They also claim Alagasco workers have come into the area on several occasions, but didn’t find any leaks
The NTSB is in town, investigating Tuesday morning’s blast. The agency believes a leak in a natural gas line did in fact cause the blast.
Alagasco has not commented on the NTSB claims, but is cooperating with the investigation.
