JASPER, Ala. (WIAT) – First year teachers face a lot of challenges, including ways to pay for all the supplies they need to keep their students engaged. This week’s One Class at a Time winner plans to invest her new found money in mathematics.
Third grade teacher Angela Lynn is tackling a lot of new common core standards, including multiplication, fractions, cursive, as well as, teaching these little ones independence. This first year teacher has a lot of supplies to buy and so far she has relied on her fellow teachers and her own pocket book to buy everything in her classroom. The first thing on her list will be more manipulatives to help with fractions.
Lynn says she wants to keep this enthusiasm building so her students will be at the top of their game as they move forward into the fourth grade.
Our co-sponsors for the One Class at a Time project are Pepsi and America’s First Financial.
