TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) – An early morning wreck in Tuscaloosa killed two people and sent others to the hospital.
The accident happened at 3:08 a.m., according to police.
Two females, ages 20 and 45, were killed when a car driven by KiAnthony Davis ran the red light at the intersection of McFarland Boulevard and 15th Street, causing the crash.
Three people in Davis’ vehicle suffered injuries and were treated and released.
Another person in the victim’s car was seriously injured.
Police have determined that Davis, 22, was driving recklessly with excessive speed.
He fled the scene on foot, according to police.
Homicide investigators in Tuscaloosa have obtained two murder warrants on Davis, and he turned himself in to authorities around 2:15 p.m.
It’s unclear at this time if alcohol played a role in the wreck.
