Hueytown High and Middle Schools evacuated for bomb threat

HUEYTOWN, Ala. (WIAT) – On Friday morning, a bomb threat came in to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for: Hueytown High School, Hueytown Middle School, Pleasant Grove High, Middle, and Elementary around 9 a.m.

Hueytown Police Chief Chuck Hagler has confirmed with CBS42 that Hueytown High and Middle Schools have been evacuated due to a bomb threat. The students of both Hueytown schools will be sent home at 11 a.m. Pleasant Grove Middle has since received the all clear to go back in the school. We have yet to receive word on Pleasant Grove Elementary, but when we get an update we will post it here.

Parents looking to pick up their kids from Hueytown High can do so at North Highlands Baptist Church. For parents looking to pick up their kids from Hueytown Middle, they can do so at Hueytown Baptist Church.

Also on Friday, UAB West was affected by the bomb threat call that came in Friday morning. The Director of Marketing at UAB West, Marianne Beard, has confirmed this with CBS42. The hospital was not evacuated though. Bessemer Police did an internal and external search of the hospital and found nothing.

According to the Jefferson Co. Board of Education, all the Pleasant Grove schools have been cleared and students have been allowed back into the building. Classes resumed at 10:20 a.m.
