BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers, along with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, one man will soon have a brand new home.

Ever since the April 27th tornado, Earcy Tucker Junior has been living with a leaking roof and only a kerosene heater to keep himself warm. A lieutenant with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office noticed how he was living and was determined to help.

Soon volunteers from the United Methodist church got involved, and now plans are underway for brand new house Tucker.

“She told me that we had looked at your home and decided that what we were gonna do was tear down your old home and build a new one. And so I just knew right then that’s just a blessing. You know” -Earcy Tucker, Jr.

Despite an army of volunteers, and a bus full of good intentions, more volunteers are needed!
