TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) – Alabama’s 5-star freshman cornerback, Tony Brown, was arrested early Sunday morning for Failure to Obey and Resisting Arrest. It happened outside of the Campus Way Apartments where Tuscaloosa Police had been called for a loud party and underage drinking complaint. While officers were investigating the complaint, they found probable cause to arrest 22-year-old Chavis Taylor for Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.
While escorting Taylor to a police vehicle, officers were followed by approximately 40 people who gathered around them, as stated in a release from the Tuscaloosa Police Department. The officers told the crowd to disperse, including Brown who police told multiple times to back up and leave the parking lot. Brown reportedly walked away only to walk right back up to the officers. The officers warned Brown that if he wouldn’t leave he’d be arrested. Brown then proceeded to step towards the officers again, yelling threatening profanity. Officers then grabbed the freshman defensive back to take him into custody, but he pulled away from them. The police used pepper spray on Brown, who they were then able to take into custody.
Both Brown and Taylor were transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail. Taylor has been charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrested and has bond set at $1500. Brown, who was charged with Failure to Obey and Resisting Arrest, also has bond set at $1500.
