Woman arrested for chemical endangerment of child

ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala (WIAT)- Adrian LeShay Stevens, of Gadsden, was arrested on January 16 and charged with one count of chemical endangerment for exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed.

In a release from Sheriff Todd Entrekin’s Office, Stevens reportedly admitted to using drugs a day before the birth of her child. The baby passed away a week later from an intestinal disease.

Stevens had been booked in the Etowah County Detention Center and was later released on $25,000 property bond.  She is subject to drug testing through Community Corrections as a condition of her bond.
