BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Tag lines at the Jefferson County Courthouse can be dreadful. In fact, they can be so burdensome that at least one person has actually tried to pay employees to allow them to move ahead in the line.
Now, those who took part are in trouble with the law.
Three county employees are facing felony charges for their roles in allowing a customer to pay to skip ahead in line.
Jozette Berry, Alisha Cole and LaShonda Smaw were arrested for using their office for personal gain.
The three women face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
