BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Neighborhood coalition members from across Birmingham, elected officials, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) staff members and department heads from the City of Birmingham are trekking to Spartanburg, South Carolina to take part in a what’s being called a Fact Finding Visit.
At the event, attendees will participate in numerous workshops, lessons and tours aimed at teaching them how to improve environmental and quality of life issues facing them in Birmingham, where four neighborhoods are part of a Superfund site with the EPA.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday and will end at 1 p.m. on Friday.
Birmingham city councilor William Parker coordinated the trip from Birmingham.
