MONTEVALLO, Ala. (WIAT) – It may not look like it now, but soon Montevallo High School will get its own new culinary facility soon.
“It will be a state of the art kitchen with an industrial kitchen line that’s got everything from a cook top to a stove to a gas range to a deep fryer,” said Brandi Eades.
Eades teaches family and consumer science at the school. She has wanted to transform her classroom into something that would give her students more opportunity in the future for a while.
Financially, the construction and equipment are covered, but once it’s done is a different story. She still needs to be able to stock the kitchen with groceries and other necessary items for teaching.
“If we got into the kitchen as many times as I would like to, we’ll definitely need more funds just to buy the groceries and things to get in there,” said Eades.
Hopefully, the maintenance won’t be as big of an issue now, because Eades is this week’s recipient of a $1,000 grant as a part of CBS42’s One Class At A Time grant program.
In addition to food, Eades will also use the money to purchase cleaning solution and new textbooks.
CBS42’s co-sponsors for the One Class At A Time project are Pepsi and America’s First Financial.
