BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — For 18-year-olds, long term savings is not a topic that is usually on the forefront of their minds.
But on Friday, a group of students were very excited about that topic.
Some students at various middle and high schools across the state received Financial Football. The game was distributed by the state treasurer’s office. It will be given to every public middle and high school in the state.
The premise of the game is to make lessons fun to helps students retain the information.
“I learned a lot about financial stuff,” said Caitlin Ryan. “I learned that you need to budget your money, that you won’t always have the income that you have at one period of time.”
Former Alabama running back and Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram participated in the event Friday.
