JASPER, Ala. (WIAT) — The temperatures will be dropping to dangerous levels Friday evening into Saturday morning, and many people in Walker County either don’t have heat or are living with only space heaters. As such, warming stations are vital.
Anyone in need of a place to warm up is welcome at the New Generation Ministries Church.
The doors will be unlocked 24 hours a day through Monday for people to come and go.
The Walker County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has donated cots for those who need to come and sleep.
And as a special surprise, Jim N’ Nicks Restaurant donated food for folks to come in and eat dinner on Friday Night.
The New Generations Ministries Church is located next to Langley Pharmacy in the Cabos San Lucas Restaurant parking lot.
The other warming station is at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Jasper.
Members of New Generation say because it will be open all day and all night, the police will be stopping by fairly often to make sure everyone stays safe.
