Jefferson County deputies looking for missing woman


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a 66-year-old woman who was last seen at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Lula Hazzard Skanes suffers from dementia and has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Her daughter told deputies that she left Skanes at home around 3:30 p.m. When she returned home Friday evening, Skanes was nowhere inside the home.

Skanes is not able to drive and likely left the house on foot carrying a large gym bag.

She is described as a 5-foot-1-inch black female who weighs 120 pounds.

Deputies began looking for Skanes Friday night and continued there search with dogs on Saturday.
