BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Sometimes a simple act of kindness can make a major impact on someone’s life.

One CBS42 viewer, Sondra Storey Coley, sent in a note about a story of kindness at a gas station off of Alford Avenue.

Her note reads:

“Dear CBS 42 news team,

I am confident that you have received numerous stories regarding acts of kindness over the last couple of day. I would like to share one more.

Late Tuesday afternoon as the skies darkened and the road conditions began to rapidly decline, I exited off of I-65 South at the Alford Avenue exit and stopped at the Alford Avenue BP gas station.

The owner, Ali, allowed me to “shelter in place” until it was safe for me to travel home to Calera Wednesday afternoon. Throughout Tuesday evening and Wednesday, Ali provide me and several other individuals with water, hot chocolate, coffee, and food. As each of us decided that we would attempt to travel home, he made sure that road were safe for travel.

Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to share Ali’s selfless act of kindness.”

Coley’s story is just one of many shared by people all throughout Alabama.
